Title: Electric wiring through the handlebars?

I wonder if the wiring of the front brake light switch is originally through the handlebar or the outside?
I bought a Lucas / TRW handlebar without holes and don't know if I should also drill on the right side.

On the 350's, the wiring ran on the outside and had rubber wiring straps securing them to the handle bars.
