generator timing

May be a dumb question, but I'll ask anyway: I assume the generator gear timing markhas  be lined-up with the pinion gear timing mark before the RH inner case gets installed?

          The simple answer is yes, they can't be lined up afterwards.
      Also note there are two dots on the clutch driven gear which are matched to the marks you refer to. Make sure your crank pinion dot is lined up with the dot on crank end. Can be installed 180 deg out which will result in wrong plug firing or sparking at BDC.
