Just a heads-up on an estate auction in Nebraska on May 12th. The ad says there is a Bridgestone 350 available but that is NOT correct. They have a pic of the Bridgestone for auction and I'm pretty sure it's a 175. I called the estate people to see if they had more than 1 Bridgestone and they said no, that was it. He apologised for the error and said that is what the owners told him it was.
So, if you're looking for a 175 head that way or bid by proxi over the internet. They also have a number of other bikes some of you may be interested in. Check it out....
EDIT...auction over, links removed.

Moonpup,
That Guzzi 850 Le Mans is nice my Brother had one!
Thanks.
Steve.
-
Nice lookin Norton
-
Last one is a little Indian twin; a flawed but pretty motorbike.
-
Wups, pardon me, it's the single.
-
I like the stand that the Indian is on maybe i will bid for that!
Thanks.
Steve ;D
-
Why is the Bridgestone the only one that looks like it's in the pig pen? ??? :o ::) ;D
-
what is the one with the yellow frame and left kick start?
-
hey Steve a friend of mine has got a mk111 i think? did a rod or something in around 1987 and its still sitting in his shed never fixed
-
what is the one with the yellow frame and left kick start?
That's the Indian. Basically a re-badged Royal Enfield sold under the Indian name. Bridgestone looks to be a MK11RS? Norton is a John Player Commando. Nice find!
-
I talked to Randy Baxter the other day and he told me about this. I was going to go with him until I saw it was not a 350, so I'm probably going to pass. A round trip for me will be at least $200 in gas to bid on a bike that's only worth $100 if that? And then there is the proxy bid deal... People driving the price up and backing out later, that's awesome.
I'm sure Baxter is after the John Player Special, you will need deep pockets to pry that away from him. You can keep the Indians, (There is a twin in the auction)... those things ARE flawed (I'm being polite).
I used to live in Hastings, not far from Henderson, in fact I've been to Henderson. It's strange how bikes end up in such out of the way places.
-
Those little Indians were not rebadged Royal Enfields. They were an Indian product. You are thinking of the Tomahawk and its brethren.
Regards, Ken

Here's another auction coming up in Nebraska on the 14th.
At least 2 Bridgestones and a ton of other bikes & stuff. (be sure to view the photo gallery)

Here's a BS 175 up for auction Nov. 10th in PEORIA, IL
EDIT...auction over, links removed.

This is an old post but does anyone know what the BS175 brought at auction? Thanks
-
I'm not sure anyone here has that info, but you could always open the link and contact the company that ran the auction and ask them for the results.
-

For those of you with other bikes in your collection/stash, this looks like an interesting estate sale with lots of goodies. Can't see any BS stuff in there, but you never know. If you live close by it might be worth your time to check it out.

"A Motorcycle Hall of Fame inductee in 1999, Bob Hansen passed away in February after a long life of doing what he loved; motorcycle racing, and making motorcycles go fast.
His workshop is now being liquidated of all tools, large equipment, motorcycle parts, toolboxes, etc. Building is full, Bob never threw anything away, and most of it is still here.
Honda, Kawasaki, Gold Star, BSA, Laverda...
A rare & complete AJS 7R motorcycle engine, and one that is disassembled but appears complete.
Engines, wheels, carburetors, tires, shocks, fenders, fuel tanks, chains, spark plugs, memorabilia, collectibles."

honda cr 750 parts maybe?

Here's a decent looking 100 Trail coming up for auction on May 3rd. in Eaton Rapids, MI.

I live in San Diego and I went. Unbelievable amount of stuff. There were about 30 people waiting before it started and when they opened the gate it was a bum rush. Most of the fiberglass stuff went fast. I did get a CB750 racing seat. Bob had most everything in a proper place and labeled. I also got a box with racing tachs, a really cool wheel truing stand and a bunch oh misc bits. No BS stuff but I did get some stuff for my race bike (spare Tommeselli copy levers just like I use) and sold a fair portion of stuff to hopefully get something else I can use.
paul
p.s. funny a lot of people were cafe racer types and didn't know exactly what some things were. I got a twin pull brake lever setup for TD or early TZ and no body knew what it was for.
-
I am soooooo jealous Paul, I really wish I lived closer to some of the stuff I find scouring the net.
Doesn't seem like any of the good stuff ever filtered down to S. Texas! >:(

Here's a doozy of an estate auction that's chuck full of neat bikes & parts and includes a 350 GTR.
It looks like the auction isn't until March 8th. 2016, so you'll have plenty of time to get your ducks in a row. ;D
Scroll down till you see "Terms of Sale:" and just above that, click the yellow "Motorcycles" or "Parts & Engines" to view the pictures.
Wish I lived a lot closer to this one!

Thanks for posting this. I think Mr.Barkers Bridgestone rotary valve experience helped lead him to Can Am.

Bob Barker set an AMA speed record of 147mph at the Bonneville salt flats with a 350 GTR.

Wow, I wonder if the GTR in the auction is the same bike? Wish there was a better picture of it than the partial glimpse that was posted. I guess someone could contact them and try to get more info on it.
Thanks for doing the research and posting that Paul.... very interesting. 8)

This 350 GTR was just added to the Vegas Mecum Auction....

-
I'm not sure about the rest of the bike, but the seat cover is an original. The bars are an exception of course. ::)
-
One of the best condition seats , I have seen on a GTR. I would like to instruments and chrome section of gas tank. Those bars need to changed. Cables would probably need to be changed. Viva Las Vegas
-
It's either an older restoration or a very clean survivor and I'm leaning towards the later. 8)
-
Very nice original example, seems largely complete but no grab handle or side stand.
-
I think I see the side stand just peeking out from under the muffler. It may be a bit more hidden than is typical.

Frame and engine numbers put it in the likely range for a gold/chrome tank model as backed up by the right side panel. A lot of parts missing but it's got a chainguard banana be interesting to see what it goes for.

Nice lighted Bridgestone sign on on-line VA. auction. No shipping though, has to be picked up in person..... bummer! :(
https://hashauctions.hibid.com/catalog/134774/june--21-2018-ashburn/?q=bridgestone
-
Yeah too bad on the shipping. That would look great in my garage. Hopefully someone "local" will pick it up.
paul
-
Someone got it for $39.
I guarantee you had they offered shipping, that would have been a higher amount!
-
They stole it, let's see if it pops up on Ebay at a vastly inflated price
-
I know that sign is close to the correct time period as the bikes but was it used actually by dealerships to sell motorcycles?
-
Nope, it was a "Tire" sign, but it's possible one would have seen it in a shop that sold both the bikes & tires.
Below is the sign I'd like to get my hands on....
-
Wow now that is a sign! popcorn I never had seen a lighted motorcycle specific bridgestone sign before. I guess I thought the dealerships only used steel signs. I happened to pick up a modern Bridgestone sign the other day, simply to hang over my bike in our barn even though it's not period correct ::)
-
Here's a vintage "homemade" lighted sign on eBay that some dealer fashioned back in the day.... (at least I think it's homemade. :o )

Estate sale this coming Oct 25, 26 & 27 in Hales Corners, WI ......
https://www.estatesales.net/WI/Hales-Corners/53130/2036688
350 GTR that's pretty rusty & crusty.
-
hopefully someone will rescue it banana
-
That little Honda in front of it will probably go for more money. :-\
-
Ran when parked, good compression, just needs a battery................................................ Think of the hours of fun you could have getting those barrels off :D ;D :D :'( but hey it's got a chainguard and maybe a good right side cover ? Is that left side muffler as bad as it looks - rotten ?
-
back in the day, i used to uncrate, set up and service more of those "little Honda's" at our local dealership than i care to remember. i get it in terms of portable transportation, but since they were not what i rubbed my gums on when i started riding as a young lad, they don't do it for me. i'd pay more for the GTR than the little Honda. now on the other hand, i am a sucker for any 1965 Yamaha YG1-K Rotary Jet 80! i have an unmolested rusty rider that i always gives me a thrill when i run an errand and then i have this cute little over-restored guy done in Honda Candy Tone Ruby Red. I did another in 2005 finished in Candy Tone Blue-Green and foolishly sold it to a fellow in Michigan who showed it in 2007 at the VJMC annual national meet. Shouldn't have sold it, dammit, so i had to restore another because i thought i wanted a red one like mine when i was a kid' then i got seller's remorse and wish i had a blue-green one!
-
Bridgestone Sales & Service sign.....
https://www.proxibid.com/Bridgestone-Motorcycles-Sales-Service-Tin-Sign/lotInformation/44697879#topoflot
-
It'll be interesting to see what that sells for...can't believe it will be anything like the upper end of the estimate, you could by a nice GTR/GTO for that!
-
ld want a bike with it for that money,l sometimes think the worlds gone mad how can it possibly be worth that .
If it does sell it'll be then used as a benchmark and you'll never get one for a sensible price.
That's modern technology for you without the internet its value would be a lot less but the the worlds changing and people me included buy world wide at a push of a button and if you want something and are prepared to pay its dead simple.
I really liked the simplicity of the 50s and 60s but there you go.
l wouldn't have bikes l now have if it wasn't for the amazing way to view and buy from your front room, l wonder what it'll be like in another twenty years.
-
If it does sell it'll be then used as a benchmark and you'll never get one for a sensible price.
I know of at least one that sold for close to $1,000...... :o
-
Hales Corners was my old stomping ground! If I was still living there, I would have snapped up the GTR!
-
My brother isn't far away from Hales Corner, but it doesn't help when I see the link in November.
-
The Bridgestone Sales & Service sign sold for $1,500...... new all-time high?
-
Wrong country unfortunately.
-
probably no way to know what the GTR brought at this auction.....
-
Steve, it sold for $1,500 at the estate sale. I talked to the owner of the auction company... (I begged him to let me bid over the phone because I live in Michigan and Idaho is 30 hours away :'( ) Unfortunately he would not let me phone bid. The owner of the auction company told me this was his second time selling the bike at an estate auction.
so the story goes; It sold 10 years ago from the first estate auction for $300 in the same condition. I am assuming that was potentially the original owner who died... the gentleman who bought the bike 10 years ago for $300, recently died. Now someone in Idaho owns it.
-
Thanks for the follow up reply "birdup!" i drooled over that bike for a couple days, hmmm..... i can't seem to see the post with the link for that auction, so i can't see the town.... hmmmm...... the bike was 12+ hours drive from me , i could have gone up there, but i rationalized my way out of doing so. i thought about calling the auction company and see if they had someone who would bid on the bike or if i could do it over the phone, but dismissed that idea as being farm boy i am and knowing how these small town auctions work, i tossed the idea and effectually got the idea out of my head. as much as i think the GTR's are totally over the top cool, i decided i don't need a second one, but that bike looked about as pristine a survivor as one could find these days. i already have a big project i am working on, so that is another way i talked myself out of it and the GTR i have has already given me pleasure. in any event, assuming the typical tinkering to get a dead bike running was all that was required in the case of this GTR, somebody got a helluva deal for $1500!
-
No problem, Steve. Yea I was pretty bummed out over missing out on it, but I also already have a nice survivor GTR and shouldn't be too greedy haha. The dude who bought it for $1,500 posted about it on the Japanese Vintage Motorcycle Facebook Group. I added him as a friend so hopefully I'll be able to keep track of it.

that'd be cool if you can follow the bike; as far as i am concerned, any of these old lumps have a soul and are deserving of only the best care possible. when i see a nice bike like that one, i always wonder what happened to it and can only home for the best.
