A friend of mine let me borrow this book:
"The Vincent in the Barn" by Tom Cotter
As it says on the cover, it is a collection of great stories of motorcycle archaeology.
The reason I posted this here is that to be able to find your favorite Bridgestone or parts for it, you have to practice a little motorcycle archaeology yourself. These little episodes are like adventures that are triggered by someone giving you a lead, and like Indiana Jones off you go in search of the Holy Grail. I have had friends tell me about people who they thought still had a bike, or somewhere they saw one, or a story they heard about a bike only about two miles away that was entombed under a porch
. You have all heard these stories, it starts out as a mystery, it may include some shadowy figures, and it may take a bit of (illegal) exploration to actually find these things. Sometimes it turns up a dead end, but every once in awhile you find it, and its like the all time greatest treasure hunt.
That's what this book is about. A collection of stories about lost and hidden bikes that different people have tried to search out. It is a very fast read, lots of photos. I enjoyed it immensely.
You may be able to check this out from your local library, I'm sure you could get it from Barnes and Noble or Borders, and Amazon has it:
http://www.amazon.com/Vincent-Barn-Stories-Motorcycle-Archaeology/dp/0760335354(I don't work for any of these companies and am not trying to sell anything here... just suppling some leads!)
This is worth buying and tossing out on your coffee table, you never know, it might trigger some leads!
