A good friend of mine just gave me his BS90 that he bought new when he was a senior in high school. Joined to learn more about the motorcyce. It is 100% orig with 4000 miles. Motor turns over but the piston skirts are broke off and down in motor. I want to split the motor, fix it and let my buddy have another ride just like he did 50 years ago.

Dan,

I wished I had a friend like you!

Good luck with the bike. Be sure to download a
service manual and parts book from this site.

They will make it easier to repair the bike .

Welcome Dan!

Sounds like a great project.  It should be exciting to see the look on your friends face when he gets to take his first ride.

The people here, and this website are fantastic resources. If you run into any problems most likely you can find what you need here.  Parts too, Richard (owner of this site) has a huge supply of NOS parts, far better than is available for any other brand I know of.

I have a special interest in the exact model you have there, that was my first bike too.  Didn't buy it new, instead I got it when it was a year old, but with a bad wrist pin and bushing. No dealer in town, so a letter to 1911 Harrison Ave. and about $2.00 later I had a great running 90.  Lots of good memories.

Any questions you may have let me know, I don't still have my original bike, but just a couple of years ago found one exactly like it.  Exceptional condition, the only non original part on the bike is a new from Richard  petcock. It's too nice to restore, better as a "survivor".

Everyone on here loves pictures, especially restoration progress.  (hint!!)

Dan, I love your goal and dedication to your friend. That's what this group of BSers is all about. Easier to get parts now than in the Rockford Motors days (hand written snail mail). I still have most of the correspondence I had with those guys...

Ray, it looks like it may be a 90 Standard without oil injection?  I would like to find one some day.  Good luck, Steve

I finally found some time to start working on it last night. It's going ok other than the motor falling out of it onto my hand breaking a finger. I only needed one stitch. The bike is a time machine and never touched, I cant wait to hear it run.
