Title: Restoration of a HMS
Post by: rwgibbon on August 24, 2021, 11:35:27 AM
I am beginning to restore a HMS or what
I refer to as a Step-Thru. I have several
parts bikes and hope to make one out
of them.

I will attach photos and keep everyone posted
as to my progress.

If anyone has parts and pieces for a HMS they
would like to sell let me know. I may need them.

Thanks
Randy

Has anyone split the case of a BS 50 HM/S?
The Service and Technical manuals say to take out the clutch race and balls.
But it doesn't tell you how to do it.

Any help is welcomed.

I split the case and replaced the kick starter shaft in one of the motors I have. I hope to have it running in the next couple of days. I will post some newer photos in the near future. The parts book and service/technical manuals are not very good as compared to other model Bridgestone's.

I have been reconstructing the HMS with the parts and pieces I had.
I am still looking for a near perfect or NOS muffler. If you have one
for sale please let me know.

I have attached a couple photos of my progress. Once I have it completely
back together I will start the real restoration.

I am still looking for a NOS or near perfect muffler for my HMS project.
But if I can't find one I will have the one I have re-chromed.

Who has everyone been using for re-chroming and will they do mufflers?

The last two platters I have used are now closed. (Brown's/Atlantic Coastal)

Thank you for your suggestions.

I was lucky enough to get Richard's last NOS B50 HMS muffler.

A big thank you goes out to Richard for his taking the time to find
it for me.

The B50 now runs and shifts like it should. I am very happy I was able
to assemble one  B50 out of three parts bikes. No I have to determine
how far to take the restoration.

I will post a couple pictures of the B50.
