Mike,
Thinning the herd a bit?
How did the trip to VA go this past weekend?
How's the GTR coming along?
Looks like you have about 14 other projects going at the same time from your garage pics.
 ;)
Regards,
Steve

Both bikes coming along just fine. Spoking up wheels for the GTR right now. Trip was great but I came home with a cold, first one in about 6yrs. Steve and his family opened their home to me and we had a nice visit plus got some work done. I also had a nice visit with Josie's father and we talked about corvettes. I do have more vehicles than I need. We will see what happens with the GTO.
Thanks Mike

Mike,
Thanks for the info. I see you have a Wheel Horse.....so I really know you are into vintage iron.  ;D
I've had a GT14 for about 30 year now I still mow with.

So, is the GTO deal a private arrangement?
The reason I ask is that I don't see it listed here or anywhere else.

Regards,
Steve

Steve,
Right now it is. A gentleman in Australia kind of has first refusal right on it. My guess is he will buy it when finished but if not then I will put it up for sale here. Who knows what will happen, it is a couple months from completion anyway. Should be a really nice bike when it is done. Everything will be new or completely redone. Just hope for the best. By the way, yes I am into vintage stuff of all kinds. Cars, go karts, race cars, motorcycles you name.

I have followed exchange rates of the Australian dollar for about five years because of my interest in a vehicle that was produced for one year in OZ....the VW Country Buggy.
Only 1956 were ever produced......thus making them very rare in the World of Volkswagens.
For a long time, even before I started watching the AUD, their currency hovered generally in the range of 58-64 cents on the US dollar.
That exchange rate made their goods favorable for export.
Other currencies had more buying power against the AUD.

That situation is reversed now with the marked decline of the USD, especially in the last five years.
Things that Aussies once lusted over, were usually untouchable for them to import to Oz be because their currency didn't have much buying power in the international marketplace. On top of that they had to add high customs taxes. That made things even worse for Aussie buyers

Today (3/7/11) the AUD is valued at 1.00 AUD = 1.04593 USD.
The whole monetary landscape is much more favorable to import into Oz.
A possible sale of your GTO to Oz, is an example of Australia's increased buying power and how the world has changed.

Good luck with your potential deal.

Regards,
Steve

Mike
Sorry about the cold, that GTO looks like it will turn out a very nice motorcycle when finished!
Thanks.
Steve.

Hey Steve,
Cold is getting better, just hope Kathy doesn't get it. Bike is going to come together very nicely. Richard is going to get some more parts me. Thanks again for the hospitality.
