New Guy From Wisconsin
« on: January 05, 2013, 03:17:11 PM »
Hi to all on this forum.  I am going to go pick up a 200 today for my step son and I to restore as a 4H project and for him to ride to school when he turns 16.  That's a few years away yet so we have time to get this bike sorted out.  This is my first 2 stroke but I have restored many other Japanese bikes.  I am looking forward to playing with a antique bike and getting a chance to ride it around.  Before he claims it as his own.  The bike is coming with a title.  We are planning on doing a resto down to the frame and making it as nice as we can, with a budget in mind.  I look forward to the project and all the help I am sure I will need to get it sorted out.

Welcome to the site bomber737, you've found the right place for information/parts for your resto. Richard( the owner of this site ) has parts you may need. I always love to hear about another Bridgestone being restored in keeping the marque alive.

I think the age is 16 up here in da nort.  I'm happy that his first bike is going to be this one.  My first was a 81 Honda FT500 Ascot.  Maybe he will not be a dumb a** like me and sell it ever.  I wish I still had mine.  He's going to be the coolest kid on a bike in the area.  And I like the fact that it's small, light, fast enough for short freeway rides and hopefully handles well.  I will be starting a build thread as we progress.  Thanks for the words guys.  I just realized I put son in law when I meant step son.  Think one thing and type another.  Fixed now

I don't have that particular stack anymore but I still have plenty of used 200 parts around here.

Great thanks,  I do know the seat is shot and the front brake lever is broken.  I will also be needing both rubber snorkels from the airbox to the side of the engine and a left side cover.  Believe it or not the bike still has its original key in the ignition.  I will be doing a lot of homework in the next few days to learn about this bike.

Bomber, I'm glad you cleared that up ;D. My oldest adopted son and I rebuilt a cylinder in his Ford Ranger when he was 16 and now he's a Diesel Mechanic. Great way to bond with a kid especially with a bike rebuild. Welcome to the site

I hope it will be good for him.  I got a real kick out of watching him show off the riding lawn mower we fixed up last summer to his friends.  Now hes out there pooping wheelies on it.  Not sure I care for that but oh well.  I like doing it to.  I did start a build thread and I have some of the parts listed there I will need in the future so if anyone has them drop me a PM please.  He doesn't want to go to state for 4H but I think finishing this will definitely win him a trip.  But at least he can ride it down there to put it on display.

Hi,
Welcome to the best site for Bridgestones!
The 200 should be a good starter bike.
