Title: Vin Decoding my 175 DT
Post by: BirdUp175 on February 06, 2018, 01:22:10 PM
Hi folks,

I am about to begin the process of getting a title for my Bridgestone 175 DT here in Michigan. The previous owner stated it as a 1972 which I knew wasn't right. I attached a picture of my VIN tag... based off the information provided on the Bridgestone VIN decoding webpage, it appears I have a 1967 175. Does that sound right?

I am acquiring the NADA value of my bike per Michigan's requirement to apply for a replacement title.

A little update on my title work for my 1967 175... I filled out Michigan Secretary Of State form TR-205 (see link) https://www.michigan.gov/documents/tr-205_16198_7.pdf  and followed the directions attached. it was a bit of a hassle as this was my first time trying the "last resort" method to obtain a title.

The clerk behind the counter was familiar with this form and was very helpful! I paid 6% sales tax on the NADA value of the bike in it's present condition... I walked out of the Secretary of State's office with a title application receipt and should receive a title in 10 business days.
