Fuel testing
There is one other factor that we need to consider when troubleshooting a fuel related problem.
And that is the condition of the fuel itself!
1 check for aged fuel gasoline that has set for an extended period of time with out any stabilizer.
2 water contaminated fuel and can occur with especially in areas with high humidity.
3 excessive Alcohol this is fairly uncommon problem almost all fuels today contain a certain level of alcohol.
Check for a strong change in odor IE a varnish type smell or a dark yellow colour and replace with fresh fuel.

I know from experience that today's gasolines will damage old tank coatings (Kreme, polyester resins, epoxies) and make a nasty mess in carbs, etc.  If you need to coat a tank, use a new Kreme kit or other coating system made for today's fuels.  Don't use old stock.
