OIL ANALYSIS.
« on: January 24, 2011, 08:53:51 PM »
OIL ANALYSYS.
When you have a blown engine you can send a oil sample for analyzed to determine what was going on in the engine!
The result will be on line its a great way having the oil analyzed by a lab and it will save some time etc.
Thanks.
Steve.

Steve, what lab do you use and what does it cost?  We used to use D-A Labs in Indy at work, but I wondered what other labs are available.

Karl
Kawasaki does it for there own warranty work,  and there is a company in California that does lab work on Porsche engines etc.
I will let you know.
Thanks.

I wonder if local airport shops would accept samples?
When I used to fly based in the outskirts of Chicago, the maintenance shop only charged $13 for an oil analysis - which they sent out.
Many plane mechanics seem to say the results aren't worth the paper they're printed on, but my experience was that it did forewarn that the engine was slowly chewing the cylinders up.

We send samples to Oil Scan / US Oil in Atlanta.  I think a sample costs $75.00 to analyze.
