Opinions sought on BS 175 for sale on Craigslist
« on: December 30, 2011, 06:35:53 AM »
A BS 175 ad with a location within reason for driving has been running since about August, with intermittent pauses in listings.
It's about 1 hour 20 minutes north of me.
It would appear to me the seller hasn't had much interest in the machine, at least at his asking price.
He keeps relisting at the same price and the same ad text.
Seems to me he's a little on the high side.....
I have communicated with the seller inquiring about a title.
He replied it had a title but offered nothing more in the way of info or further correspondence or encouragement to come look at the bike..... ::)

I'm kinda in the mood and means to move into a Bridgestone, but this isn't my first choice in the way of displacement.
I'd really prefer a 350, but this might be a reasonable stepping stone.

Anyone have any opinion about this machine and the asking price of the seller??

looks like it would need a little work to bring it back to original (cosmetically at least) but if its all going and everything is doing what it should offer less . its hard for me to say what its worth it seeing the price difference between country's   but over here i would jump on it .DIG THOSE CRASH BARS

Its one of the first 175s    with oil tank under fuel tank,  and duel charge rate switch on side panel,  I've got the same model. looks expensive for condition,  tank should be chrome sides,  front fork bottoms and chainguard silver. I think that price is top dollar even if it was in the UK.

With all the 350's recently popping up on craigslist and beyond, why would you want to settle for anything else?  ???

Especially with a bike that's over priced. The owner obviously took the cheaper route when "refreshing" it with paint vs. chrome and who knows what else he skimped on.

I would hold out for the displacement you want. Even if you throw in shipping, I'm sure you'll be able to find a good GTR/GTO up in your neck of the woods at or below the price of this bike.  ;D

On a side note, it doesn't look like you're that far from Mike Anderson, an active member here on this site.

I'd give him a shout. He just might be able to hook you up.

Over the past few months, you could probably have had up to THREE 350's for a total of $2000.  You would have a whole fleet by now.

I agree you would be much better off with a BS350, that is unless you just want a 175.  Jeff Bar
