Need Help Identifying Parts
« on: November 06, 2015, 11:38:16 AM »
I came upon these parts through a friend and after some research found some parts to be from a Bridgestone motorcycle. I have a Foot Rest Rubber with part #3721-3002 that I have identified as a part from a Bridgestone motorcycle but because it is a universal part I am lost on what the rest of the parts fit. I have a box from a head lamp lens with part # 8150-8000 that I was unable to find a fit for. I have a few other parts but no part numbers for anything else. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

I am only able to identify picture 2 and 3 as BS parts.

Picture #2 is a headlight trim ring. Based on the part number, its for the 175/200 bikes.

Picture #3 is a clutch/brake lever holder. Looks to be for a 175/200 as well.

The part #8150-8000 from a box for a head lamp lens is a bit confusing. While the 8150 prefix is generally designated for the headlight lens, the parts manual for the 175/200 has that part as 8150-8200.... not 8000. So far, I haven't been able to find the part #8150-8000.

The part pictured is the trim ring and since you found it in the box with an 8000 number, it may actually be for the 175/200's, but the number for the trim ring is.... 8140-8200.

Maybe 8150-8000 is for the whole headlamp lens/trim ring assembly and someone just used the lens and left the trim ring in the box?

In my March 15, 1970 Parts Price List, 8150-8000 has a note "Use SC 1592". 8150-8010 says use 8150-8200 (Head Lamp Lens). Not sure what the SC 1592 is. ???

Thank you all for your time  :) I don't know the origin of these parts, except they were left for scrap. I spent the majority of the night last night downloading and searching part numbers in the part manuals I could find and was stumped with the part #8150-8000, with nowhere else to find answers I turned to this forum for help. Your time is greatly appreciated. Thanks again

Hey Speeddemon327s, we all get a kick out of this Bridgestone archaeology. We are happy to help. From the looks of your handle, you might be a Chevy guy. Good guess?? (by another Chevy guy)  ;D

Chevy, yes! Guy, No!  ;D I really enjoyed learning about the history because it was unknown to me that Bridgestone had a line of motorcycles up until yesterday.

You probably have to be of a certain age to know that Bridgestone also made motorcycles for about 10 years through the 60's (I won't ask ;D)

Thanks for saving the parts, not treasure I'm afraid but someone will be able to use them.       Now, if you could find a stash of right carb covers or chainguards, you will have hit pay dirt.  ;)

I'm so glad I grew up in the 60s & 70s. I did so much stupid stuff and there's no record of it.............Anywhere !!

Treasure doesn't always mean it is worth a lot of money, for some, these parts may be treasures. To come across these parts and to be able to find their use, was thrilling for me, however if someone is in need of them, they are for sale (Not expecting treasure amount).  ;D

This is listed as a 175 DT/HS part, but doesn't look like any of the right side covers I have on the 175 motors I have.

I was thinking it was an SR sidecover, but wasn't sure. Its listed on eBay but appears to be the only SR item that particular seller has in his many 175 items.

hrcycles is the seller so maybe someone with a better eye at catching SR items wants to look through his listings and see if there is anything else? Based upon his description and lack of mentioning "SR" anywhere, I would guess he doesnt know what this item really is.

How valuable or "rare" is this item?

....snip.... How valuable or "rare" is this item?

Dan

It's probably fairly "rare" considering how few SR 175's were produced.

Value, in this case, will be based on both need and competition. You will have fewer "competitors" due to the small number of bikes out there. Of those few competitors out there, there will have to be more than one that needs it and shows up to bid.

If that doesn't happen, you end up with one lucky bidder that gets it at the opening bid amount. If on the other hand 2 or more determined "needy" competitors show up, all bets are off!  ;D

He has a regular right side cover for $19.99 and this one is listed at $49.99 so maybe he does know the difference.

I guess it qualifies under the "item of need" category regarding value. I don't have a SR175 so I "don't need" this item, therefore it's value to me is very low.

How's that sound Moonpup??
