Title: GTR 350 Exhaust Baffles
Post by: ridered on October 06, 2010, 07:52:22 AM: Has anyone ever ran a GTR without the baffles? Was wondering if their would be a performance loss or gain.

I always rode mine without baffles back in the day. Seemed to perform a little better, and I liked the sound much better. Just my personal opinion.

When i dyno my Bridgestone 350 gtr i will try with baffles in and then i will take then out.
And we will see if there are any loss or gains!

Post by: ridered on October 11, 2010, 06:26:38 PM: Sounds good Steve, Looking forward to the results. I have done a lot of research on 2-cycle exhaust for an expansion chamber design. From what I've read at the very least the engine should run a little cooler since it would be relieving the exhaust pressure a little easier. I'm planning on the exhaust baffles out for the break-in period. If anyone thinks this would be a bad idea let me know as I plan on wrapping this project up in the next month if no problems arise.

Post by: Toystoretom on October 11, 2010, 10:10:34 PM: Expansion chambers would be cool. I know that they use some sort of wave reflection back to the exhaust ports to almost act like an exhaust valve.

I have a couple of Suzuki Triples and here is a video from Higgspeed of a 380 with chambers on it, Very cool if you ask me. I have considered buying a junk set off of E Bay that were made for possibly a RD 350 or a Suzuki Titan and cobble them up to a set of GTR header pipes and see what happens.

Have a look at Gibson exhaust the original owner and designer of Allspeed exhausts.

Can you give me the reason behind leaving the baffles in during break-in? I'm always wanting to learn as much as I can on exhaust systems.

The reason you leave the baffles in is to slow the engine down it give you more mid range to bed the engine in most of the time
There would be wadding on the baffles that you would remove on your first service at 500 miles. When i worked at some of the
Kawasaki shops if you removed the baffles before the first service there would be no warranty! Most of the time in the UK you
Would get the bike in for the first service stamp the service book at 500 miles.When i run my Bridgestone on the dyno i don't
Think there will be much difference i like mid range power you are not at top end for very long but we will see and i will post the
Results etc.
