Posting Pictures
« on: April 05, 2014, 08:38:22 AM »
I've tried posting a photograph of the 1968 Sears 124 5V I restored over the winter and
keep being told it exceeds the file size. It is only one photo. I never had this problem
on the site before. Any ideas?

Thanks

Randy

Randy, A little while back, the file size for images was capped due to rather large photo's being posted that resulted in slowing down the forum.

You can read about it here..... http://bridgestonemotorcycleparts.com/index.php?topic=3283.20

Yes I've had problems also, I wanted to add photos to my gallery covering my second GTR restoration but got the same message as Randy so in the end I gave up as they were far too small. It's a shame it's come to this as I believe the gallery or photos in general are a great help, it's a backwards step in my opinion. :(

As I previously stated in the thread I referenced, I thought the size could probably be bumped up a little more without affecting the forum speed. However, when you click on a picture in a post to enlarge it, it should be able to be viewed in it's entirety without taking up more space than what's available on your monitor.

Back during the "slow forum" period there were pictures being posted that I swear would need 4 monitors to see the entire image. Besides slowing down the forum, it kind of defeats the purpose of posting a picture you're proud of when it can only be viewed a 1/4 section at a time when enlarged!  ::)

Kinda off the subject but how does one get the embedded video on the forum post. All I've ever been able to do is post a link to YouTube. Where as everyone else is able to get the video on the forum. Is this slowing down the forum or is it ok to do it this way. I think I get less help from members who can't stay on the page and watch the video.

I've had the same issue setting up my member gallery.  I couldn't put any photos up, so I stopped trying.  I wanted to post my progress with out starting a thread.  mqtsteve

Posting photos is easy, you must keep file size size under 30000 KB per photo.

We had guys posting file sizes way to big, that is the reason we are
limiting file size to 30000 KB each.  It pretty simple to run your photos through
some photo editing software to keep file size under  30000 KG.  There is no reason
to post something with a larger file size.

For you who do not know, file size is storage space the photo takes up on the site.
If you do not understand what I am taking about, ask someone you know who is
familiar with computers.

This site is provided free for you guys to use, please keep file size as small as possible

Thanks Richard.

I have tried to reduce the photo down. But to no avail.

It keeps failing and states the file is larger than 48.83 KB.

I understand what you are trying to do Richard regarding file sizes, good move but I'm having to reduce mine to a size that is only as big as an avatar, way too small and I get exactly the same message as Randy.

Richard, I think they're now (or maybe always were) talking about posting pic's in the "Gallery".  Earlier I thought the discussion was about posting them in general, but since they all seem to be having difficulty trying to do the same thing in the same section, maybe that can be looked into?

yes it's the gallery I'm having problems uploading to, just tried again but no joy.

Got it to work but had to reduce the photo to this size.

Had no problems in the past

I give up.

This was my 2013-2014 winter project.

It is not a Bridgestone. But it is like the
first motorcycle I legally drove on the road.

It is a 1968 Sears (Gilera) 124 5V.

Everything works and it runs great!

Nice work, Randy. My friend up the road when I was too young to drive had one of these (I think a little earlier and not sure the displacement), but I spent alot of time on the back. Lucky I got to tag along.

What I normally do on the forums is to just upload all my photos to photobucket.com, and post the link in the forum thread. The pic then shows up in the thread, but is stored on another site.
