Interesting find, Moonpup - but I fancy that's taking lightening for racing a bit too far!

Actually, that's a nice display item, and a bit easier to hoist onto a display stand than a cutaway CBX.

Graham, I agree... it would make for a nice display piece.

I remembered seeing this pic in the gallery taken in the Mid-Ohio Bridgestone members display tent. A whole table full of engine displays. Can't tell however if any of them are cutaways.

Was wondering if this engine was an official Bridgestone Dealer display piece/aid or if it's just someones old machine shop project. Some of the cut areas in the casing look pretty rough.

I agree, it looks very much like an engine that an owner has home sectioned for use at displays and rallies. I've seen this done to model aircraft engines for precisely that reason. My first reaction was to think it wasn't a factory or dealer produced item but a great idea. Don't know that I would want this done to a surviving engine these days.

I'm so glad I grew up in the 60s & 70s. I did so much stupid stuff and there's no record of it.............Anywhere !!

yeah, too few engines to use one in this way (I think). Maybe one with a catastrophic failure that ruined the cases.
just my 2 cents.
