BRIDGESTONE NEON
« on: August 06, 2012, 11:17:05 AM »
Hey Guys, this weekend I found this Bridgestone neon sign listed on eBay and while it's cool, it's not really specific to our motorcycles.

Here's the link....  http://www.ebay.com/itm/SB181-Bridgestone-Racing-Bike-Motorcycle-Beer-Bar-Display-Neon-Light-Sign-/180945027399?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item2a212a0147 )

So I sent the seller a message asking if he could do one up using the patch shown below as the design. He sent me an email back today saying he'd try to get it done.

I'll post back here if he's successful!  ;D

Depending on what he comes up with, I am interested in them.  Could be really cool!

I think he could sell a few to some guys on the site.

Here's another sign he sells that is very similar to this other Bridgestone design.

Do you have a preference for one or the other? Since it's still early, I might be able to steer him either way.

Since you started this neat project!  ;) How about checking with him to give us BSers a "buy it now"  price?
Then we can get them.   I do want one.

Just a suggestion, perhaps he can price one, and have more than one for sale at a time.

I will check into that Richard..... good idea!

EDIT.... On second thought, I think I'm going to hold off on that and wait and see how things go for a while. I checked out all his auctions and they seem to be divided up into 3 bid categories. Some of the more popular signs start off with a $29.99 opening bid while the others begin at either $9.99 or $0.01 .

I fear that if asked to choose a "Buy it Now" option, he'll go with the $29.99 price, which with shipping, will end up costing approx. $70.

I think, if everyone is patient and lets the bidding hover around the opening price, he'll sell it and stick another one up soon after. You might not get one of the first ones listed but I'm sure if they keep selling, he'll keep listing them.  ;D

And I was gonna wait until the buyin slowed down and get one for a penny ;D. I think he charges enough shipping to make a profit even at that. Evidently so because he has sold several similar signs at one cent. Thanks for gettin the guy to make em Moonpup.

Yesterday when I saw the new sign, I was curious how/where he came up with the font used on the lettering. Today while checking for BS bikes in Photobucket, I found this "patch like" photo along with a Bridgestone poster with the very same font!

Mystery solved!

PS... The scary Bridgestone monster is the same also!  ;D

The neon monster doesn't look quite as scary. Maybe it's his swollen right paw.

Anyone notice this is from Hong Kong?
It's a decent looking sign, but that explains the $36 shipping charge............kinda steep IMO.

Ztnoo

You think that is expensive - the cost of postage via USPS to Australia is astronomical.

Hey ztnoo, Hong Cong is a long way to ship a package, and this one is somewhat fragile requiring special packaging. They offer an excellent refund policy and replacement of the neon glass if it gets damaged. With a 7 day delivery I think the shipping is very fair. If you want a better price maybe you could set your time machine for the sixties and enjoy much cheaper shipping but you would probably have to wait probably 8 to 10 weeks for your boat to come in. ;D  Sest la vee

First off, I disagree that this is just a “decent looking” sign.  I think the seller did a fantastic job with what little I gave him to work with and on top of that, did it in under a month! He obviously took the time to research and find other images to pattern this on besides the obscure eBay link I sent him of the patch pictured in my first post. (just hope there’s no copyright infringement from the Bridgestone Poster guy!  :o )

Secondly, the $50/$60 bucks you may have to spend to get one is nothing compared to what it would cost for an original vintage Dealer sign and none of those were “neon”. This sign will look great in any Bridgestone enthusiasts garage or “man cave”, as well as being a super display piece for individuals that show their bikes.

Just my thoughts FWIW.

I agree with your sentiments.
The sign looks to be great value-I have bought items from Hong Kong before and they were good value.

I agree with you, the neon sign is really neat, and contrary to the "naysayer", (ntzoo) its a great value.

I feel we are lucky to have someone make it for such a small market.  I will be purchasing a few.

Worldwide postage is expensive and will only get more expensive
