The show itself was really big awesome machines. I will try to upload some pics later though I couldn't get the scale of it in one photo. Must have been well over 200 bikes

Are these Bridgestones some of ones originally sold there? I've  read that a few were imported in the 1960s

I think Bob's is. My gtr I bought in. My 175 and two other incomplete gtr 'S are originally delivered. There were approximately sixty imported to oz so they say. The only difference is can tell between a US model and a Aussie model is the Australian one has a bracket for the flasher unit welded to the frame   .though when I was speaking to  a bloke who bought one new here in 1968 it did not have blinkers so I am lead to believe that they were an optional extra

Hi, Coxy,

Where was the bracket for the flasher unit welded in the factory? Mine was a UK spec bike (same as the US models) so came without indicators. I fitted a flasher unit by Ty-rapping its rubber mount to the frame cross-member under the seat. Works fine, but I always wondered where it should have been - the Parts Catalogue doesn't give any clue.

Well great thinking Graham it is slightly to the left .I couldn't tell you if it's factory I will dig out the other frame and see if its in the same spot .the frame looks very dirty but its very nicely powder coated

To answer your question re Au imports from Japan in the 60s : my 60 Sport was imported into South Australia in 1965 and Bob's 175 was imported into NSW in 1967.
Here are the first 3 photos from VJMC Canberra 2016. There were greater than 250 bikes from pre 1961 to 1992.  Bob is the chap featured in the 3rd photo side on in the cap holding a white ? piece of paper.
