BRIDGESTONE 350 GTR REAR SHOCKS.
« on: April 18, 2011, 09:39:23 PM »
Bridgestone 350 gtr rear shocks.
I always thought that my rear shocks on my gtr are too soft.
So i pulled them down and  put 2 spacers 2mm thick under
The top cup to Pre load the shock, you can do the same on
Your front forks i put 1 spacer per leg and it stiffened up the
Front end etc.
Thanks.
Reed.

There's a good article on the subject of preload and spring stiffness here:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Suspension_(motorcycle)

The Bridgestone 350 is one of very few motorcycles on which the rear suspension can actually be adjusted for spring rate and damping as opposed to just preload, by moving the upper mounting point of the rear shocks.  (wheel travel is slightly reduced.)

I try ed that when i first got the Bridgestone i did not like it!
So we will see if this works, i would like it to be a mono shock
Like some of the Yamaha i had i liked the way they handled.
In the day.
Thanks.
Reed.

The upright position works well when you are riding two up pulling a trailer, but I also didn't like it for "normal" riding, too stiff.

You could get the kitchen sink in the back of that trailer!
Thanks.

I found some nice shocks in Asia. They are all chrome and 13" c to c of the bolt holes. Is this measure correct? I dont have the originals.

I measure about 13.5in when they are fully extended. I don't think the length is that critical, but I know there are 335mm (13.2in) shocks available in chrome.
Here's a nice example:
