Switch Issue
« on: February 03, 2013, 07:02:50 PM »
Has anyone had there key switch apart? Is there diagram somewhere that has the 1 through 6 number on back of switch identified?
I have been through diagram in manual but it has no wire colors. I have horn and brake light and neutral  light but no headlight and taillight on second notch on switch. BS 90 Trail. Not sure which lug should have power on second click of switch. Thanks

Thanks Steve, I have since read on some post here that the bike must be running for the headlight
and tail light to work with key in second position. Do you know if this is true?  My bike is not running yet so I can not verify, although
hope to started it this weekend. I will confirm this later on.  Thanks Again

hi ,    you do have to have the motor running to operate the head light , if you have a good battery in the bike the break light should operate in either switch position ,  the tail light should work in the second , , if you have a good bulb in the tail light , william anderson

aero,
Yes the engine has to be running for the lights to work, and its the second position on the switch for the lights etc.
Thanks.
Steve.

Well all is good. Cranked bike for the first time since 1975. Cranked on third kick. New piston, rings, gasket, ect.
And the head light and tail light worked while cranked. Seems to smoke a lot. Do the rings need to sent in? Also
I had oil pump apart Is that something that may need adj? I did not move setting. Using yamalube because thats all I could find at time.
Oil inj bike. If I go to a syn oil will I need to drian yamalube out?  Thanks again

HI ,    yamaha oil is a good lube i sold it an used it for 20 years as a dealer , if the yamalube you are using is one of the synthic yamaha oils you want have to drain unless you just want to they will mix , excessive oil smoke is not usualy from ring seating in a two stroke engine , sometimes its from assembly lube , or the stroke on your oil pump adj , if pump has been setting unsued , sometimes they stick open from the old oils left inside pump , check pump stroke at diffrent throttle positions , thanks william anderson

Thanks William, I plan on riding it this weekend. I say it smoked a lot but i was inside the garage. Door was open but. Anyway I will report on how it runs out on the street. Also I did not have carb side cover on so air filter was not connected. Wonder if that will make a difference. I will hook all that up before I ride.
