175 HS compression

I'm working on getting the 175 back in action. So far, clean tank, clean carbs, good battery, healthy spark and working lights. The compression is reading 80 psi. This seems a little low to me. Anybody have any thoughts on what is normal? Also, is cork a good material for the petcock valve?

That compression does sound a little low, but is good enough to run OK. Cork probably won't work well, check with Richard or Steve Reed, I think there are repair kits available.

My 2c worth; as Karl says, good kits are available to rebuild the petcock from Richard and Steve.  I wouldn't risk using cork on something with the potential to leak gas.  Way to flammable/explosive.
