Throttle cable
« on: May 08, 2013, 08:39:19 PM »
I was wondering if a 350 throttle cable would work on a 175 or 200? The look exactly the same. I'm just wondering if one is a little bit longer than the other one? Also, does the 350 throttle assembly work? I'm wondering if anyone has both these cables and grips to compare. thanks.

Throttle assembly is the same. Not sure about the cable. You might be able to make it work but I am sure the 350 cable is longer than the 175.

Hi ya,

The black cable is a 350 throttle, the gray one os a DT / RS cable. As you can see the 350 is way to long. Note also that the oil pump cable adjuster is different.

However, what might work for the HS / SS models is the top end of the 350 cable. As the end that fits to the throttle is the same and the free cable length is the same. It will still be slightly long but as HS / SS throttle cbales are on the unobtainable listing it would be better than nothing ??

later ... ray

Thanks guys, That comparison picture really helped and confirming that the throttle assembly works. Ya, I have noticed that I can't find a decent throttle cable anywhere for 175/200's, but I do have a good bottom cable set to a SS model.

Hi Duckman,

Is it a DT / RS throttle cable you need or a HS / SS one ?

I don't really think it matters does it? Are they both the same and just look different? I didn't look too hard at the trashed ones I had but it's just the one into three section that's different right?

Hi Ya,

Yes, it's the single cable from throttle to juncton box that is different. HS/SS is slightly longer due to the rasied handle bars.

Ahh, I see the difference now. I will probably use whatever one I can get a hold of that's cheaper. I have used parts for 2 complete bikes that I'm working on minus good throttle cables. Probably use a 175 and a 200 model engine.

Just curious because I have a '68 DT 175 and I need the throttle cable housing.  I looked in the parts book and it appears as though the inner cable is listed as part 6176 but that the outer casing or sleeve is seperate but not listed with a part number.

Have you been able to locate either or both of those as a new part?  Thanks,

I just ordered it from Ray. He's the only one that had one. Decent condition.
