Description: Using brass bushes bought on eBay from the watch makers section I machined these to fit, be warned this is a very fiddly job.

March 03, 2015, 09:47:43 AMI used a drill press and a good engineer's vice, I was able to set the carb squarely in the vice using an engineer's square against one of the carb faces. I drilled the elongated holes very carefully to suit the 4mm bushes, when lightly tapping in the bushes I supported the back of the spindle legs. As these were clock bushes I had to linish the o.d. slightly to fit.
I can add that when the carb is set squarely in the vice you can check vertical hole alignment by moving a spindle dia sized drill up and down through the two spindle holes before final drilling for the bushes. Although I didn't do it clamping the vice to the drill bed in this position would give a more accurate result. Last modified by: March 07, 2015, 05:10:55 AM
March 02, 2015, 07:02:23 PMI can definitely imagine the "fiddly". Did you use a drill press? I've got some of the Rockford kits for this purpose, but have been trying to decide how to tackle. Have been considering using a friend's Bridgeport. Key is to get the bore centerline right and to be centered in the posts so as not to breakthrough or crack. Yikes!
