Title: 350GTR purchased In IA
Post by: Old BS Guy on May 30, 2016, 10:39:00 PM
Haven't ben on the site in a few weeks while attending to other things. I've ben in Des Moines for the past week, and a 350GTR surfaced on Craig's List. I ended up driving a couple of hours to Fort Dodge today. and got it bought. Supposedly ran a year ago. Engine has good compression feedback on the kickstarter. Inside the tank is respectable. This is the same bike that Moonpup just posted up in classifieds. (The guy never misses one, does he?) Just sent a post off to Graham, because the VIN actually changes the list. Early bike, 21U03983, so a Sept. 67 bike. More later..... Can't wait to get it lit!

Glad to see you were able to snag that GTR!

Contrary to belief, there are some ads I miss. I blame that on the "feud" between Craigslist and the various search engines like Google, Yahoo, etc. Mainly Craigslist though. They want to keep the ads local and that is evident by their refusal to add a search feature on their site that lets you search nationally. I also read somewhere that they don't release certain "codes" that the search engines need to have the ads show up in something like a Google search for hours/days/weeks.

I've turned up ads that I've never seen in my daily searches and that are now days to weeks old and the seller has already sold the item & "deleted" the ad. There are others where nothing shows up in my search, yet another member sends me a link and poof... there it is. I have to type in the title of the ad "word for word" in order for it to show up.

I've also found ads that are only minutes old and yet 2 hours later using the same search, it doesn't show up.

The internet is weird sometimes....  :o

WANTED: RH carb cover for the 350 GTR; #2176-9000. The recent 350 acquisition has a damaged RH carb cover. Anyone out there have a spare, good used, new, anything at all in one piece! I'd appreciate hearing back. Also looking for a serviceable rear fender. Mine is going to take a lot of work if I choose to use it. Can anyone comment on the 200 rear fender. Will it interchange? I measure my early 200, and it appears to be shorter. Thanks in advance for any or all replies.
