BSG 0070 Service letter
« on: September 19, 2010, 06:17:29 PM »
Can someone enlighten me on Service bulletin BSG-0070?  There seem to be two very similar but different versions of this letter floating about.  One indicates that the seals are to be removed, and a second version has an editors note that this was later reversed.  I would like to know if anyone actually has a copy of this reversal.  It appears to me (I could be wrong) that the letter which indicates the reversal is one someone retyped from the original letters.  It is part of a complete summary of the factory letters, all very nicely done, but they look too perfect!

Can someone identify the sources of these two contradictory letters?

Thanks in advance!

Attached is a copy of Service Letter #70 in which it states to remove seal seals and leave them out.
I have been removing them for years, bikes are fine without them.

The file attached is a nice PDF.

BTW:  I will be posting the entire set of Service Letters soon.  They are most helpful

while thumbing through the many posts  ( being a newbie  :o) I came across this post and out of curiosity pulled out my original  1971 350 GTR SERVICE MANUAL went to chapter 5 ( crankshaft - pistons -cylinders - rotary disc valves ) and in the index for the exploded view # 11 " 57 oil seal Not used See Service Letter   BSG-0070 " I guess that is close to the last word on the seal , anyway I thought you would find this interesting
