Title: Tachometer
Post by: TangoZulu on March 21, 2018, 10:19:24 PM
So, who has come up with the most elegant solution for installing an aftermarket electronic tachometer on the 175/200 twins group? By most elegant I mean: it works; looks good; simple to install; reasonably priced and is preferably analog.

Late to answer this but I'm seeing these now on eBay and would like if anyone can verify if they are an original option.

Looks like a nice after market tacho for the 175. Can't see any link or confirmation to Bridgestone or Rockfords on pictures. Date on the side of manufacturers box is 8/78, so too late to be an original fitment.
Looks chunky on the 175 bars but that is what young riders would have wanted back in the day..........hey, I've got a tacho!!   Looks very period.

Thanks for answering. I didn’t catch the date on the side, that’s a dead giveaway. And I agree it doesn’t look right but I haven’t seen a real one yet.

Onward!

The ebay seller is dead wrong, that is not original BS, its just a cheap aftermarket parts that they were
selling. That company sold those to fit almost any early bike. I had one on a Suzuki, it was crap it read
completely wrong but made you think you were really flying.  banana

A couple notes about the label on the side of the box....

1 - The date of 8/78 in not the date of manufacture but looks like a date of when the tach's (4 of them) were received.

2 - The part number on the label "SC 1458" is a Bridgestone/Rockford number.

I've got a handle bar leather tool bag (part # SC 1294) made by Starlite Leather Products. It's possible that the manufacturer of these tach's supplied them to Rockford for resale  like Starlite did the tool bags.

If anyone has one of the "Accessories Catalog", maybe they could check and see if these are in there with that part number.....  8)

Just found some pics from the Accessories Catalog on page 4 of this thread....

http://bridgestonemotorcycleparts.com/index.php?topic=2672.60

The one at the top of the page is the tach and the one on the bottom right is a temp. gauge.

Jeff is correct in that these were not original Bridgestone parts, but they were accessories offered by Rockford.

Hmmm...  I think I have a used one of those in one of my boxes of old auto parts.  Time to dig it out and see if it works.
