Hi. My name is Tom Melay and I have just registered on your great new site.

I have a 1968 Bridgestone 350 GTR that I acquired after scouring the U.K. for 15 years. Low and behold it was on my doorstep just up the road in Manchester.
It had been in storage since 1980. V.S. N number: 21 Z 04910 and Frame no: NA-1 04924.
The Bike was complete (a rarity) and had surface rust. The Engine and Cables were all free moving.
I managed to bring the Bike back to a reasonable level of condition after spending a few days with our friend the AUTOSOL.

I am currently in the process of getting her up and running as she should.

I have had her running but she is blowing a lot of smoke. (New Rings fitted) I will check the level of Oil being pumped etc.

Many thanks and best wishes with the new site.

I will post a picture soon.

All the best

Tom

Welcome! Glad you found her and good to hear she is running. I wonder if the smoke "may" becoming from transmission oil. But, it could very easily becoming from the recent work you have done as well. It seems sometimes that allot of smoke can also come from the mufflers that had "who knows what" in them all those years.

If someone put oil in the cylinders & crankcases to store it, it will smoke for quite a long time (20-50km) until that all gets washed out.
