I certainly don't mean to be a tire slitter here since this deal is so close to being done..........................but this is a fascinating bit of info offered today on Karl's Bridgestone@yahoogroups.com list.
"I have 40 of the 1331-9000 connecting rods for the 350 Bridgstone, a limited number of both large and small needle bearings,
and limited number of the large crank pi ns. They are all orginal NOS parts in orginal packing, and will sell separately on first come
base. Pricing connecting rod $85.00 ea. Bearings $25.00, and Large pins 25.00. Hopefully this will help the group in keeping
the remaining fine 350 Bridgestone bikes in service. I can be reached at 210-827-6209 or this e-mail. Happy riding, Darryl"[/i]
Talk about shaking the bushes..........
Regards,
Steve

Steve: Figures that you would be the one to post the sale of more rods, all your talk as usual.
Perhaps this new offer will stop Ray and Richard from doing them, then 20 rod sets will be supplied
and the other 20 guys will be left out.
I would not blame Richard and Ray if they said "to #%$^ with it" and just stop the project for the future Jeff Bar
-
That's good news but not enough. I vote we keep on with the project.
-
Steve: You sound like a naysayer, your words "fascinating bit of info" tells us all......
Anyway:
Crankshaft rod update:
We must make you aware that we were also approached with the same offer to buy:
He gave us a "firm" deadline of Friday March 2 4;30pm to purchase his parts. Or else....We declined his offer.
According to the seller at that time, he is offering:
A-40 single NOS con rods. 85$ each
B-6 X big end pins. 25$ each
C-4 X small end bearings. 25$ each
D-No piston pins
E-No big end bearings
We are trying to supply 40+ complete kits, for the future of Bridgestone Motorcycles.
You can all do the math, these rod are not complete kits. Sadly we have to commit to our manufacturer for the full kit to do as they are not interested in just making the bearings / pins. So, We had to decline this and pursue our original path. These may or may not come up on ebay in the future, if they do fine. If you have big end bearings / big end pins / small end bearings and pins, then great, you may save a bit of money.
Even if all these 20 new kits were complete, we were planning to supply 40 kits, so who gets " left out"?
We were about to announce some perks to our complete kit offer, but were waiting until we reach 40 kits. We feel these perks would have made the new kits even more attractive.
But as it stands now our $375 "kits" will each include:
2) Rods made out of today's superior metal
2) Big end crank pins
2) Big end crank pin bearings
2) Small end piston pins
2) Small end piston pin bearings
If we ever make it to 40 kits, we will announce the above perks
If anyone wants out of their commitment please tell us now. No hard feelings.
Comments are welcome and encouraged.
Richard and Ray

You asked for commitments, Richard, not requests. There are 37 commitments so far. I wouldn't think anyone wants to go "pussyfootin'" around right now. Let's get this done.
-
Like Richard said, you won't be able to put together a complete set with those. And even if he had everything, the pricing would be very close to what Richard's kit will cost. Also, you get the added plus of "today's superior metal".
I'm sticking with Richard! ;D
-
Richard,
I am sticking with your con rod kits this is the way to go!!
Thanks.
Steve.

Come on guys, we are almost there. :)

Glad to see everyone is using this event to show what a great bunch of people the members on this site are. ZTNOO, no not so much. Would like to say more but not right now, already had my yoga practice go to waste reading his post. Will state my 2 cents worth when my head is a little more calm.
Thanks for your efforts Ray and Richard.

Could you please let me know more details on those con rods & bearings. I am looking for 2 con rods complete with both little end & big end bearings for a 350 GTR. Regards -- Richard Perry

Thanks Harry. This thread turned out great. Talk about shaking the bushes........ Richard, make sure Moon pie gets his crank kit.
-
I have heard of the Moonie group. Did not realize they had a chapter in Texas.

Aw, Mike, every group needs a curmudgeon or two just to keep it interesting. ::)
At least Ray and Richard have the right attitude to handle it.
Personally, it's comforting to know there will be a few spare individual pieces available after these kits are used up (and they will be someday) or if someone just needs individual parts or parts just for one side.
-
Karl
Parts for the rod kits themselves will not be offered, as the manufacture is only interested in making full kits.
I do have in stock a reasonable supply of "other" crank parts, such as seals and case bearings.
I agree there always seem to be a few people in every group which cause issues, yes; it keeps us on our toes ;)

Just pointing out that Darryl does have some individual parts available, although limited. For someone that only needs a single part or two or a few years down the road, the may help someone out.

IMO everybody has a right to their own opinion and attitude. I like diversity and worthwhile issues. Keep it goin'. Thanks for the discount, we know that wasn't required, and uh, what about those perks?
-
The perk was the reduced price, we thought everyone would be happy with that. Most guys like to save money, we are pleased it turned out so well.
What the future gives, who knows....
