So then nobody noticed that it's a SR175 bottom end with a 90 side cover stuck on it?

Good eye Paul.  I will have to take your word for it, as personally, I have never seen one.

Yeah, good eye. It's obvious now that it won't fit.

Very cool to find that the new SR motor is only 4 digits off the motor I already have. Any idea how many SR175's were produced?

......snip........  Any idea how many SR175's were produced?

At least 409 of them!  ;D

Actually, I have no idea but it is cool that you would first recognize it as being an SR engine and then to have it numbered so close to your other one.  8)  Great find.

Also happy to find the transmission is pretty mint. The cases had a fair amount of dirt and muck so I guess it was raced? I'm supposed to be getting ready to race my bike next weekend but I'm excited to get this new motor cleaned up.

Now will that take a regular 175 crank?  Was there any difference?

The main difference with the crank is the SR's are stuffed with aluminum plugs in the balance holes. The gear for the oil pump is also removed. I have one that is already rebuilt with a center labrynth seal that I had made but haven't tried yet. I also have a couple of stock 175/200 cranks that are NOS. I think I have enough parts to put one of the two I have back together. Hopefully I can start putting something together for Catalina!

Here's a pic of a SR175 crank on the left and a 200 crank on the right. There was just a little dirt under the generator housing.

I must applaud everyone for their effort on the 350 rod kits. I guess I would have bought one if I had a 350. The 175 has much friendlier dimensions. This is a 175 rod compared to a rod for a A100 Suzuki single. Same length 100mm center to center, same small end and big end ID just wider on the both top and bottom (18 vs 14 and 16 vs 14). Note that the stock 175 rod is really buff.

I had a hard time finding my 175 rods too, I just called Richard and ordered two for 50 bucks. ;) Jeff Bar

It's not that the 175 rods are hard to find, I wanted to see if I could find something with a better Big end bearing. The Bridgestone bearings while fairly heavy duty are heavy with fewer rollers then a silver cage bearing. They tend to wear grooves in the rods under the tortures of racing. The 175 rod itself is one of the best looking stock connecting rods I've seen. There are oiling holes on top and massive slots in the bottom. You just can't find a 14mm wide silver cage bearing for a 25mm pin. I didn't like how skinny the A100 rods were at the base of the big end.
