Title: Bridgestone 350 engines required
Post by: vinny g on October 16, 2015, 02:07:21 PM
As it says..i'm looking for a couple of 350 engines for a project..condition isn't that important and i require no ignition or carbs.
It's a long shot i know but you have to ask..and they will be going to a very good home.
I'm UK based..thanks in advance..Vince

Vince,
Send an e-mail to  fleagle14@embarqmail.com  I probably can help you, as long as you have a carrier service to work with.

How unimportant is the condition, runners?.  I have one 'spares' engine (needs assembling) in the uk and could maybe find another.             Brian.

Me? Build a racer? How can you suggest such a thing.Outrageous.

Hi Brian..no they don't need to be runners..but complete (ish) would be good.Generators, valve housings etc aren't required and the condition of the chrome isn't to important.

Thanks..Vince

I did actually build a 350 Bridgestone racer a few years back..i used quite a bit of Bert Lilleys info..for which i thank him.Built more as a fun bike but it has some nice bits and sounds exquisite.

I'm guessing a 700 cc V4  2-stroke.  Vinny must have too much time on his hands.   ;D

I will personally be glued to your transmissions from Fairly Secret Son of Secret ish central(I kinda like the name ish..;-). Given the innovation you have brought to your 200, I can't wait to see. Thanks for your willingness to share with us duffers, Vinny.

Thanks for that Bert..reliability is going to be a key factor so it's as always,a balancing act.
Two mods that are definitely happening are:

Triple exhaust port..i'm aiming to get my time/area that way thus keeping a ring friendly exhaust port.

Rear boost ports with a welded up and then bridged original boost.I aim to run the ring peg in the center rear of the piston on that bridge thus equalizing ring pressure on the peg.
I'm still juggling with either boring 10mm ports alongside the original in a conventional style..or feeding trough ones machined in the liner through the pistons as per Yamaha.

Whichever..i'l keep you upto date.

Which frame did you use for that earlier project, Vinny? The standard frame or a special, perhaps a TD2 or TR2 frame? I'm not at all sure whether a standard GTR frame would be suitable if the engine starts making some serious power. The standard swingarm certainly isn't and would be the first thing I ditched.

That's a standard frame.
The new bike is using a made new one based on the Bridgestone..from twenty paces it will look Bridgestone'ish.

Still looking for engines by the way..though plenty of work has gone on regardless.

Firstly..my apologies if you msg me ref engines and i didn't reply.I tried to..and feel sure i did..but being a newbie i may have messed a few up so apologies.

Still looking for an engine, preferably in the UK but its looking increasingly like i'l have to buy in the US and ship.

Fortunately i have the bare bones, crankcases, cylinders etc,so i'm able to carry on with it so far but it's getting to the stage that cylinders etc are going to need machining.
The porting, head and exhaust specs are all sorted and i'm quite confident of it all working out ok.Keep you upto date.

Look in your sheds and garages please! I need that engine!
Thanks..and a Merry Xmas to you all.

I have a racing engine under my bench. Holes drilled to cool the clutch. Plates under the barrels ...barrels milled to maintain compression...its apart.. Needs work.

Hi All. I have been quiet..but i've also been busy.Work continues and is,pretty much,on schedule. Still looking for engines though hope is fading fast of finding a complete unit so it looks like i'l be buying a project to "recycle" so to speak.
Anyway..we all love a bit of bling so have a look at these...the first pics of many.
Knowledge is power..knowledge should also be shared.
All the best! Vince

Hey Bert,

I started working on a new ignition for the 175/200. Very early so far, but I plan on making a plug that houses a bearing where the points plate normally goes. This will also act as the base for the stator. This is a combination of HPI ignition parts. The stator is approx 80mm in diameter so it will fit within the standard housing. It's a single 180 fire ignition but with a dual output coil. Once the bearing/base plate is made we will figure out the length the center shaft will need to be. The rotor weighs less than the internal rotor setup I have now. I'll keep you posted since it's been a bit of a slow go so far.

Hi vinny, well im talking to a guy in the states who is building a 175 street races yup hes going for it.
I remember you had parts you wished to sell for your175 racers. Do you have anything left from that lot ?.
How are your fleet of 200cc racers doing have you found any more power out of the rascals ?
I was thinging of putting together a 175 to competent my BS350 i have enging cases bored out cylinders ready for T6 alum. Liners etc. But stalled when i read the rules of only22mm cabs. BUT have found away around the ARHMA restrection and and waiting confirmation from a engineering source. So ill hang on for a little while .
Interested to see how your bike are doing

Sachse does not list it on their site, as the spacers and trigger are made to order. Check out their Yamaha RD kit, and it's very similar.
