Title: What's a fair price for a 1969 Bridgestone 175?
Post by: Andrew.Clark on April 01, 2010, 02:08:54 PM
Hey everybody-
I have a '69 175 BS in fair shape, runs well (for a 40 year old bike) with faded paint on the tank and a slightly bent exhaust. It has about 5,000 miles on it. What is the approximate price point in your opinion? I was offered $600 by a local (Denver) collector, but I really have no idea of the actual value. I also have a few extra goodies such as the original sales receipt and and owners manual, etc which doesn't really add any value to the bike but is still kinda cool. Thanks for any input guys!

Yeah, I figured that would help, I'll have to post some later when I get home. Also, I meant to say a '69 200, not a 175...

Better Info and pics:
1969 Bridgestone MII SS
6,700 miles
New tires and battery
Left exhaust is slightly bent, as seen in pic
Petcock has a slow leak when turned to the on position
The rubber pieces connecting the air filters should probably be replaced (as opposed to the current electrical tape patches)
Smokes like a chimney for the first 3 minutes or so after starting, then settles down to the usual 2-stroke exhaust

Again, any opinions on approximate value would be greatly appreciated. The pics posted show the bike after sitting in the shed for about 2 months, without any cleaning, but it does polish up pretty nicely. Its been a super fun bike and after some original tweaking has been pretty reliable. If I had more time I would never even consider selling it, but as I mentioned the offer is from a collector who plans on restoring so it would probably get the attention it deserves.

Thanks everybody, and this website was a huge help to me in the past when I first picked this bike up- thanks Richard!

I would set a price at between $900 and $1,100.
