gto progress

Hi All,

The GTO is running, started on the third or fourth kick. Everything sounds good. I premixed fuel so there was good smoke. Oil pump is not picking up, either has too much air in system or bad pump. Will figure that out tomorrow. Bigger problem is fuel leak at the fitting where fuel tap attaches to tank. The tank looked so good that I did not pressure test before painting, bad mistake. Now there will be a trip to radiator shop for repair and tank repaint, oh well could be worse. Everything else is going well so no complaints.

Congrats on getting your GTO running!

It can take a long time to get all the air pushed out of the lines.  A good way to speed up the oil pump priming is to hold the throttle activated volume pulley on the pump at maximum while the engine is running.  This will push oil through the lines at about a quarter of an inch every couple of seconds, alternating one cylinder then the other.  It will take just a couple of minutes to force all the air out of the lines this way.
