175/200 down pipes
« on: May 11, 2011, 10:40:03 PM »
I have watched ebay and the other sources for a set of clean down pipes.  It seems that like most of the chrome parts on Bridgestones that the chrome is blistered, peeling or otherwise damaged beyond a simple clean up with some steelwool.  I guessing that anything new or unused is long gone. Has anybody ever run across a nice set of pipes or is my best option to bite the bullet and send a set to a plating shop.$$$$$$$

Steve,
Can you give us a typical figure for Shelbyville to rechrome pipes?
I know their can be variations in cost based on how much hand finishing between the plating steps is required, but if you have a ball park figure, that would be very helpful.
If I can ever locate those Suzuki T200 pipes, they might require rechroming.
I really like idea I could get that done here in the Hoosier state.
 ;D

The best thing to do is to take the parts in to them you want chroming and they will give you a price etc!
And on the Suzuki T200 i know where there is one and i will check on it for you.
Thanks.
Reed.

Steve,
I already tried Crooks a couple of weeks ago by email and got a reply they couldn't help me.
I try to turn over every stone I stumble over in hopes of locating something......and something priced within reason.
What about that local lead you had?

Regards,
Steve

The link is:  http://www.dkmotorcycles.co.uk/
Used spare inquiries:  http://www.dkmotorcycles.com/?section=contact_us
No reply as of this posting.

Since you know of a T200 locally close to you, I'm hoping when you inquire or go see it, you can take your cam along and grab some great shots......like these.
Focus on the mufflers, please.

I'm holding my breath..... ;)

Steve

I have a new left side. I can possibly locate a good used right.

I'd like to apologize to everyone, especially Badgerstone for more or less hijacking this thread.
Kevin's post about the original pipe question jerked me back to reality.
Steve Reed's question to me kinda got me off on a tangent that had nothing to with the original post in this thread.
I've been on this T200 muffler search for over two months now, not had a great deal of success finding acceptable parts, and it doesn't take much to lead me down the path of talking about that subject in the hunt for any lead.
Sorry for my diversion.

Regards,
Steve

That's alright Steve, I can relate to your frustration when looking for parts.  Kevin, I would definitely be interested in anything new or in very good condition.

Hey Badgerstone,

I see you are also in WI. Any chance you are going to the swap meet in vintage racing at Road America the 2nd weekend in June?

http://www.motorcycleclassics.com/blacksidedown-road-america-2011.aspx

I plan to make the trip over with a few bikes and parts. I was there last year.

I know I have a new left side. I would have take a look for a nice right. Many other parts also.
