Search of my fathers custom 175
« on: November 08, 2013, 03:54:25 PM »
Hey everyone!
I joined onto this forum to help in my search for my Dad's BS 175 he had as a teenager.   I only have one front shot of the bike that doesn't show much unfortunately.
He grew up in Rockford in the 60's and this was one of his first bikes he tore into.   He did everything imaginable to the bike.

*Earls forks built from Puch minibike parts
*Scratch built frame w/ front pivot chain adjusters
*Disc brake rear (maybe front too?)
*Silencers chopped from the chambers
*Cross bar welded on the bars
*Custom fiberglass tank and seat
*All the race specs done, Twingled it a hand full of times
*Made a sidecar that stayed on for a day till he hit a street sign with it, Still have that part of the bike!

This was all while he was in High School.   Traded it to a friend for another bike soon after, never saw it since.
It was the one that really got him started, and I would love to have it back in whatever condition it happened to be in.

So that's my mainly my reason for joining.
But I do have a couple other BS interests.    Have a little 90 Sport and 2 175's to build up.   One just for street, the other to run at Bonneville.  :)

Any input would be great!
Thanks guys!

Good luck with your search, good chance it might still be out there. For several years I had been looking for an old Yamaha YR1 that I used to own. About 2 years ago I threw up an ad on craigslist to see if anyone might have it. I had sold the bike when I was a teenager, about 18 years prior. Guess what? A guy called me and said he thought he had the bike in question. He lived 15 minutes away from where I currently work, so I met up with him. I was able to identify the bike by an old air force sticker on the frame, among other details. It was missing parts and in terrible condition. I had to pay way too much for it, but it once again resides in my garage, awaiting restoration. Don't give up!

Thanks, Grundlegrabber

It's somewhere, I figure its unique enough that maybe someone here will stumble across it some day.
