GTR Needle Valve Assembly

Sorry to restart an old thread - but has anyone had any additional luck with this issue? I find myself with "old" carbs that have the 7mm needle/seat.

If the 9mm replacements are 1.0 pitch as Steve Reed has stated, is it possible to drill and tap the old ones to the new size? Has anyone tried this with success?

Hi dan,

I have completed this mod, I drilled and tapped out the carb to the larger size and had no issues since. If you attempt this, you need to make sure your drill is square to the carb, and also tap is square or the fibre washer wont seat square and you have turned a carb into scrap ali.

  I also had to set the carb up on a mill and machine the fuel bowl mounting flange flat as it had been over tightened so many times it was badly warped. 

I managed to find a cheap starter tap, and seeing as I probably wont use it again, I then modified it to be a bottoming tap.

if you were local to me, I would lend you the tap...
