hmmm. that color code looks much darker than it.

well, when i compare boths pic"s maximized it is fairly close.still to blue though. when it dries it should be a lighter shade.

id still like to know what the color was called from the factory. :) that maybe aint happin though.

hmm. maybe the one i had was a lil faded. this paint also seems to change color with light more than most shades. that i always liked. :)

heres another pic. i think that shade recomended is pretty close to the b+s mountain.

I know this is a little far on in the picture from you rlast post but my 90 Deluxe has the same paint colour.
Did you ever find out what the colour actually was, or what did you find that was close.
I will need some to paint my main frame and covers.

Cheers

Hi,Ben. There are two blues on the press frames, the metallic color is what Bridgestone refers to as OMB-candy blue. The straight, more pale shade is BLE-blue,which originated on the Bridgestone 7 model. These codes won't get you anywhere in the modern world. I believe the latter is the same on the sports(not confirmed). It appears that Sam is listing a Yamaha cross for this color in the above text. Give it a little time, and someone might be able to give you a modern day cross for these from a current manufacturer, like Dupont or PPG,for example. Whereas there are many proffessional finishes available in the U.S. market,I am not sure what is available to you there. Most good paint jobbers who distribute quality refinish products will be able to "read" your color with a multi spectrum camera and create or match it to an existing formula. This will require you to find a good, clean, solidly finished area of the part/frame that is several inches square so the camera can be placed in order to sample the color. Under the seat, along the side of the center rib is a likely spot. You need to clean it up and polish the area to get a good reading. Thanks,Mark.

Omega Man,

A really great color from the 70s that you might consider is GM Bright Blue Metallic (see photo).  It looks brilliant in the bright son; yet, almost, but not quite midnight blue in the dark.  These bikes have so little body work to paint that it's almost necessary to use a really bright (but not obnoxious) paint color.  Best of luck in your search.
