EXPANSION CHAMBERS BY GORDON JENNINGS.
« on: December 02, 2011, 10:20:50 PM »
Do you really want to know about expansion chambers by Gordon Jennings.
If you have some time Google Bridgestone Gordon Jennings and read his
Article on expansion chambers, and he was working with a Bridgestone 350
GTR at sometime a very good read.
Thanks.
Steve.

Jennings was a prolific writer and wrote on a wide range of subjects related to two stroke tuning.
Those topics include two stroke fundamentals, crank train, cylinder heads, expansions chambers, port timing, crankcase pumping, cylinder scavenging, carburetion & ignition, and tips for big boring cylinders.
He was universally considered The Guru of his day.
The guy today that even begins to approach Jennings technical knowledge and journalistic skills is Kevin Cameron of Cycle World.
I think the following (see the image below) is the book Steve is referring to. Expansion chamber theory is on pages 51-73 in the PDF file.
The entire book is online here:

Interestingly enough, the "Son of Secret Weapon" article is posted right here at Richard's site!

Interesting what one finds Goggling around.....

Here's the Cycle cover from March 1969 in which the article was published:

Some additional research unearthed Kevin Cameron's memories of Jennings form Cameron's Top Dead Center: The Best of Kevin Cameron from Cycle World Magazine, published February, 2001.

After further investigation, I find there are two more articles in this series, Part 2 and Part 3.
I don't find them here.
Actually I haven't found them anywhere, yet.
Anyone have a link or a file of those articles?

OK....more research:
Son of Secret Weapon Part 2:  Cycle May 1969.
Son of Secret Weapon Part 3   Cycle September 1969

Anyone have these issues from which a PDF file of the articles could be created?

I found another Jennings article on expansion chambers published in Cycle, April & May 1972.
Tip: Requires deep concentration and probably at least five rereads.
