crank and soda results
« on: September 15, 2011, 02:14:20 PM »
g day all. the left hand thread on the crank is now done it took a little window putty to stop the die dropping into the keys .the replacement nut came from Richard and arrived yesterday .the nut itself is twice as thick as the one that came off this bike originally and utilizes more of the thread .(highly recommended) .i don't think it will go anywhere now ,a dab of lock tight for added security .the motor will be back together next week all that is left is to paint the casings and reassembly .
the soda blasting results are a bit disappointing .it cleaned all the gunk from the air fins but that is about it.on the air fins on the cylinders it looked like it had been sand blasted and came back with a dull result which polished up  with a wire brush   on the head it is still tarnished a bit of steel wool may fix that .

I glass-bead blasted my cylinders and heads and they looked good. I just covered the outside fin on the head that needs to be polished anyway and the rest came out fine.
