Don't worry about it
« on: August 14, 2012, 03:54:42 PM »
When was the last time someone gave you something semi-valuable, you offered to pay for it and they said "Don't worry about it"? It was probably a longtime friend or close relative. I worked as a bike mechanic  in several shops in the southeast in the late sixties and early seventies. Back then it was common to do a small repair or give someone a used part they needed when you could, even if you didn't know the guy. That's the camaraderie you enjoyed just by being a fellow rider. Well that type of friendship exists because of this site. I just recieved a very nice chrome fuel cap for my GTR sent from somewhere in Australia. (I won't reveal his name in order to protect his privacy) :D
Not only did he give it to me FREE, when I emailed him for his address to reimburse him for shipping, he sent back a note that said "Don't worry about it"! This is monetarily at least a $40 value with the shipping, but to me it's priceless. I don't know the guy, never spoke to him. I only know of him through brief communication through email and the posts he makes. But, I feel as though he is a friend of mine as others on this website are. Anyway, I want to publicly thank him for the it. I wouldn't trade it for two new ones. It will have a permanent place on my gas tank, regardless of the quality of restoration because it came from a friend. At this point I want to thank 2 more guys, one for the kickstarter and another one for the speedo and tach bargain. Your friend, Bikenstein

Ah heck Dave, don't you remember, I told you the same thing with the Honda manuals.

I said, Dave,  Don't worry about it............. they're only $20 bucks + shipping!  ;D  :D  ;D

Welcome to the site. Small world ain't it? :DThanks for the needed parts, but the speedo and tach deal I was referring to was from another gentleman that prefers to remain anonymous. Your GTR sounded pretty good. I think it would have made a great restoration. But at least its helping to get some others goin.

Oops, my bad.

That bike didn't have a title. I have a few more, but doubt that I will part them out the way things are going.

Oz is on my bucket list, as well as Kiwi land. Hope to visit there in a few years. Lots of Z-1 owners, there, too.

heaps of z's i used to have a Z1R MK11 one of the bikes i should not have sold ,there are good people here mostly bridgestone/vintage bike enthusiasts though and great places apart from Canberra where the only good parts are the roads which lead out !
with the gas cap i wish it didn't take so long to get to the post office .some times its not about  money other people have got my spare spares for the same price as well, if i have something that someone needs and i wont use there welcome to it .its not uncommon practice when i first got the gtr i was given a workshop and parts manual and when i had clutch issues i got plates from a bridestone man in oz and also was sent some from a good bloke from America.for the same sort of deal .cheers

I want to say a big THANK YOU Moonpup, for the kickstand you gave me. That was a very nice gift. I don't know if it's me gettin older or my center stand is malfunctioning, but it sure is hard to rock that thing up on it. Thanks man ;D
