Curious as to what year Bridgestone first started using a front brake lever switch on the GTR?

I've always seen the switch on 1970 GTO's.  It shows up on the brochures, but it's hard to see.

The question was when did it first show up on the GTR.... not the GTO.

The GTR Parts Book I have (not dated) shows a separate parts list for the front brake lever/switch/throttle assembly. Perhaps this was required in Japan, and then offered on later U.S. models? As far as I know, U.S. DOT did not require a front brake switch until 1973, along with mandatory turn signals.
