GTR Chrome Back From Platers
« on: December 28, 2012, 10:29:17 AM »
Picked up my GTR Chrome yesterday afternoon from the platers.  Now the real fun begins.  Just wish the weather would cooperate so I can work out in the garage again!

Hi Steve,
Looks like a show bike in the making. Who does your plating? Did you forget one of the front fender stays? Nice job, good luck with the bike.

Hi Mike,
My plater is WE R Chrome Plating LLC in Cleveland, Ohio.  No, I didn't forget the fender stay. I have an NOS one squirreled away for this project.

Really looks nice Steve, you will probably be disappointed with the NOS fender stay next to the fresh chrome. Bridgestone chrome is pale in comparison to current plating. They spent very little effort on the original plating as I am sure you already know. Anyway looking good. Happy New Year.

No, front fender was just polished.  Fender stay can always be plated if I am not happy with the match of the chrome.  I have to drop a kickstart lever off I bought from Kevin anyway.  Not sure what I am going to end up doing about mufflers.  The set I have is damaged pretty extensively.  I need to find another set eventually.
Thanks.

Steve,

The chrome looks great.

I'm not trying to be to nosey. But ball park, what did the
chroming cost you?

Thank you and Happy New Year.

Yes, I really thought long and hard about doing the sprocket.  The plater insured me it would hold up, so I went ahead and had him do it.  I know it's not factory correct, but neither is some of the other plated parts.  Lol.

Dang! That looks so good I may just have to start getting the parts on my GTR rider plated.  I painted it, replaced some rubber parts and polished up the chrome parts so it doesn't look too bad, but all you guys that have the new chrome are making me envious, it looks so good.

I was worried about my re chromed GTR being to bling but that doesn't seem to be the case, I had the headlamp shell re chromed along with the rim but when I tried to fit the pair together they refused to mate so I fitted a NOS rim from Richard to the headlamp shell so I had new chrome and original chrome together, it's not obvious.

Steve,
Your chrome parts look really nice on your Bridgestone.
Looks like another GTR back on the road very soon.
Thanks.

Hi Steve,
Thanks.  Yes, I'm shooting for sometime this June, hopefully sooner.  Thanks for all your help so far.
