My Headlight came today!
« on: June 21, 2012, 02:57:30 PM »
Just got my super rare headlight shell in today and I'm as excited as anybody could be. This is my bling! ;D

Shown also is the tach and speedo I aquired along with the new carb covers and side cover. Yeah, moonpup, I know it's a GTO cover. It's hard to find this stuff and even harder to get a bid in. That's Frankenfurter in the photo. Look close and you can see an upside down R on his side for "Rusty" and a couple more behind that. His right leg was almost ripped off. Anyway, I had to stick all these parts on to check the fit. I know I'm slow but this bike will run again. Gotta finish my shop so I can work on it.

"Yeah, moonpup, I know it's a GTO cover."

Dave.... if you're referring to the gold cover in the last picture, that is NOT a GTO cover.  It's actually a cover from one of the 1971 GTR's that were gold.

Since it's not the one that came with the bike when new, I wouldn't call it "original".  However, it is "correct" for the GTR and will be even more correct when you paint it the right color and get rid of the decal!  ;D

I've raised many a Dachshund and I can tell you they live the longest and most problem free lives when they are kept skinny as whips. The last one I had by the name of Tobias was just muscle and bone and lived 18 years. Cut back on that little Zeppelin's feed! Yes, I know they are hoovers of epic proportions!
Strangest damned little hounds, most people laugh when you tell them they are superb hunters and trackers. They can find a deer in the densest of forest and can move in the brush where other dogs get hung up. I own Heelers now, they're a whole different story. But I still like weeener dogs.
