175 DT
« on: July 03, 2009, 08:34:14 PM »
I am looking for some help. This past winter I picked up a 175DT. It has a VIN number of 16J16214. My best guess thru number tracing is that it's a 1966. Can anyone verify that? Thanks,

Chris B.

I can't find it now. But somewhere on the web was a break down when the various ser. no.s were made. Mine starts with 16L and I remember the info I had, made it a Dec. 1966 built bike.

Chris, where did you find the info on dates of production. I know it is out there, but I can't find it.

Hi Dave,
Sorry I have taken so long to get back to you. I found some information on serial numbers on "Scott's Bridgestone Motoncycles" Go to "links" and you'll see "Bridgestone Serial numbers". I think it's acurate, but I've learned on the internet - "Be-Ware" and also go to the experts to confirm information.

Best regards,
Chris

Found it and got it. I was looking again for my 175 DT that I got in Nov. to see that my titled as a '70 was made in Dec. '66. My brother just picked up a 175 Dt from Penn. (you may remember the very recent add for a free to good home 175). So we were comparing ser. no.s and bikes. His was made Jan. '67 and titled '72. Production wise in mos. they are very close. I also wanted to check the numbers on the 175 HS I bought new as '69 on Aug. 2 of '69. It was built in April '67. My Dec. built 175 had a 4 bolt rear sprocket as my brothers built the next month as a 6 bolt rear sprocket. Just picking over them and seeing the differences. Thanks for the responses.
