90 Sport...Should I get spark w/ out battery ?

I am not familiar with the ignition system on my 1966 90 Sport. There is currently no battery hooked up. The stone looks like a magneto set up similar to my pushrod honda 50 although the honda is a denso unit and the stone has no name on it. The honda does not need the battery to run, but is needed to avoid blowing the bulbs. Should I get spark if a 6volt battery is installed.

Any and all help appreciated.

The BS 90 is also mag ignition, does not require a battery to spark, just a good working system, with clean points!  Jeff Bar

I cleaned the contact breakers and Wa - La....A nice fat blue flame! Almost like pressing the easy button at Staples, but much more satisfying.
