carb tuning question
« on: December 13, 2013, 05:03:41 PM »
Ok so I had to go through the carbs again cause of the horrible idle. I'm able to have it run at what seams like a high rev with the enrichment port/choke on but only for a short time. Cleaned the carbs out with the best carb clean I've ever used and have them ready for another test but I'm wondering if I might have the wrong jet sizes. What are the sizes that generally came with the carbs I'll have numbers on here later of what I got. Any info helps

Redrust,
It might not be the carbs have you check the o rings  on the rotary disc cover and the centre seals ?
Thanks.
Steve.

you sure you're getting good fuel flow to the carbs? Std. jet size for 175 DT is 100. Did you use compressed air when you cleaned the carbs?

Had a nice chat with Reed and I'm looking at pulling the engine apart to look at the seals just in case but I can't do that until I get a heater for the garage. Its cold out there. That's also what I'm thinking is going on is that its too cold that I need more fuel to run like a car does before it warms up. Its only about 10 ° warmer than the outside air in my garage so that's still below zero right now and for the rest of the week.

You could do a leak down test to check those seals...........
I hear you about working in the cold. My garage is no heated or insulated either............ :'(
