Let me tell you my story, in hopes it will save you guys trouble. I will start off by saying I am no parts expert., but I am learning fast.
Ass holes on ebay. I wanted a set of piston rings for my 175 DT. I saw some rings on ebay that were listed for a 175, bought them at 25$ plus 8$ shipping, sounds great! Got the rings three weeks later and found out they were chromed for use in a cast iron 90, so I got these two sets that the seller will not take back. 33$ wasted, unless you want them? For a cast iron 90?
So I kept looking on ebay. then bought two set of rings from a major seller on ebay . I waited 5 days for auction to end and bought them at 40$ plus shipping. The “nice” seller with good feedback said the rings were 1305-5010, I emailed him, they said yes they are cast iron rings.. So I thought all was well. I bought them. Almost 50$ later, I received them. Looks great.
Went to install them, took them out for box, noticed the box said 1305-8010. I then remembered the article on this site, in the TIPS header. Sure enough the rings are too small. They are for a 175 racer which used a smaller bore. When I installed them I got a 90 thous end gap, which means I was installing rings that were worse that the ones I took out. Thanks EBAY. The seller said “read my auction, items are sold as is. Now I have 85$ in parts I can not use.
I called Richard and he is mailing me two sets of proper rings.
Everyone needed to be careful of the rip offs on ebay
I am protesting my charges with paypal. maybe they will get my money back.
Sorry for my raving
Jeff
