Bridgestone that is.
Where does Cycle Guide or anybody else get off saying the Kawasaki 350 Avenger is faster than the GTR? My original bike I purchased new would put the needle past 110, though I know there was reading error at that speed. I always claimed it as 110 anyway. The bike would outrun a couple of the good running Avengers in our area drag racing from a rolling start. I know that rider abilities could have played a factor, but I was also the Kawasaki mechanic at the first Kawasaki shop in town. I had the opportunity to set up and test ride quite a few new Avengers. I also serviced and frequently rode these same machines as they were broken in and while they were fast, I know personally that my stock GTR was significantly faster. I believe that the factory's claim of 13.7 second 1/4mi. and 0-60 in 5.2 are much more accurate than any of the road tests done back in the day. A proper break in is probably the answer to the slower times reported in those road tests. If anybody has personally ran their bike at the strip or have had the opportunity to run against an Avenger, I'd love to hear about it. I'm not condoning or encouraging any street racing here or speeding. My thoughts are the GTR was the fastest production 350 in it's class at least from 68-70.
