Yep, I've noticed that!

I bought a spare pair of NOS cylinders some years ago, and, like your set, one (I can't remember which) had larger fins than the other. I did check bore sizes in case one was a 200 or a 175RS item , but both were standard 50mm for a roadster 175. I assume that the design was changed at some point, like on the 350s - there was a long thread discussion on the 350 cylinder chenges a while ago.

Just out of interest, does anyone out there know the story of the 175 cylinder changes?

Hi , Bit late on this one.
Did read that many NOS parts now offered for sale were made by BS Tailung in Taiwan when they took over production after Bridgestone stopped . Could this be one of theirs, can't offer any dates. Maybe they had to remake or repair the original casting patterns and just altered it slightly.

As an aside, Graham, I now believe there was no change to the shape of the 350 heads or barrels. I've never seen any significant variation or alteration unless you can tell me different. Suspect there was an oversight in the original post which I will revisit at some time in the future in 350 talk.

I'm so glad I grew up in the 60s & 70s. I did so much stupid stuff and there's no record of it.............Anywhere !!

Actually Brian, depending on what you consider "significant", there were several differences such as reinforced exhaust flange, cut out vs. no cut outs in the fins and anti ringing pins vs. no pins.

Big discussion here....
