Original Retail Price question
« on: March 23, 2014, 05:31:03 PM »
Does anybody know what the original retail price was for 1960s Bridgestone motorcycles?  I own BS90s, but am interested in all models.  The design still looks modern with all the chrome and cool tank shapes!

Steve
I don't know what the prices in the US were at the time, however I do have the 1968 prices including Tax from Sydney (Parramatta) AUSTRALIA. These prices are in Australian Dollars - I don't know the exchange rate in 1968.

50 Sport = $250
90 Deluxe (pre-mix) = $303
90 Deluxe (JetLube) = $318
100 Sport (Jetlube) = $355
175DT = $499
350 GTR = $689

I hope this helps

The 175 Dual Twin was the only Bridgestone motorcycle officially imported in the Netherlands, and for only two years. Last listed price in 1968 was 2,295 guilders or US $637.50 at the then current exchange rate. Few were sold, Yamaha, Suzuki and Kawasaki had the two-stroke market pretty much under control.

Thanks guys!!  Can't believe how far a dollar went in the 60s/70s.  Modern 50cc bikes go for thousands (ktm/Kawasaki).  Looking forward to getting my bikes back to like new condition.  Might take a while, but I'm in for the long hall!  Thanks again, mqtsteve

Looking at US Bureau of Labor Statistics,  it takes about $6.00 (2014) dollars to equal $1.00 (1970) dollar in general purchasing power.

  Well I Guess That Proves Investing In Bridgestones Is Good   305.00 X 6   Is Less Than 2000.00 Dollars   The 175sr On Ebay A While Back Got Bid To 9750.00 And Did Not Meet The Reserve A 5X  The Money    Just My 2 Cents GENE

Rockford raised the SR175 price rather quickly. $305 on 12-23-69. Then $455 on the 2-15-70 price sheet.
