Anyone Have A Trick For
« on: March 17, 2012, 08:13:21 PM »
Rounding over (flattening) the rivets for the side cover badge?  Just painted my side cover and replaced my side cover badge and I am not sure how to secure the tubular rivets.  Any ideas?  Thanks.

I'm not to that point myself, but I was wondering if we need to use a solid flat head rivet to start (like aviation style).
I think maybe Ace Hardware sells them in small quantities.

We use a punch (actually called a snap) like that to set the hollow rivets on light aircraft brake pads.
You need a formed snap for the head side as well to avoid damaging the rivet head.
Not much help I know unless you know a light aircraft mechanic.

Ken

I used a c- clamp, and i drilled a hole into one end of the clamp and put a small bush.
Then i just press the rivet in with the clamp and i was able to flatten the back of the rivet.
Thanks.
